Experience

Shane has been professionally writing about cars since the 1990s. After founding the UK-based site CarEnthusiast.com, he was contacted by Yahoo to provide bespoke automotive content. He made his first hire shortly after to cope with demand, hence forming the CE Editorial agency, and it's still going strong to this day. Through the years, Shane's work has appeared in a vast array of car-focused publications, including Top Gear, CAR, The Times, and The Daily Telegraph. His words have even been localized for use in Japan and China, and regularly contributes to outlets based in Ireland, the UK, and Australia. He joined Static Media in 2025 as a features writer for Jalopnik, putting his lifelong obsession with all things auto to good use daily, and is now part of the news team.

Education

Shane has a first class honors degree in mechanical engineering and a PhD in the same subject from University College London in England.
