Experience

Shane has been professionally writing about cars since the 1990s. After founding the CarEnthusiast.com site in the UK while studying engineering, he was contacted by Yahoo to provide bespoke automotive content. He made his first hire shortly after to cope with demand, hence forming the CE Editorial agency, and it's still going strong to this day. Through the years, Shane's words have appeared in a vast array of car mags, including Top Gear and CAR, countless websites, and serious newspapers, such as The Times and The Daily Telegraph. His words have even been localized for use in Japan and China, and he writes regularly for outlets in Ireland, the UK, and Australia. He joined Static Media in 2025 as a features writer for Jalopnik, putting his lifelong obsession with all things auto to good use daily.

Education

Shane has a first class honors degree in mechanical engineering and a PhD. in the same subject from University College London in England.
