The third-generation Corvette, in my mind, will always be the last generation of Corvette before it got a bit ... sweaty. The C4 moved the model forward from a technical standpoint, but when you tell somebody to picture a "classic" Corvette, the C3 is the newest one that arguably qualifies. Good news, fellow C3 enjoyers, because there's a particularly clean one for sale right now that's said to still use the same engine it came with when it rolled off the assembly line almost six decades ago.

Spotted on Hemmings is a 1969 Chevy Corvette Stingray with its original 350-cubic-inch V8 that made 300 horsepower when new. Power from the original V8 goes to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. There are a reasonable 70,881 miles on the odometer, and its current owner, who has had it for the past 34 years, says it's a turnkey car with no mechanical gremlins that's never seen rain.

Clean, but not too clean

That said, this owner has only had it for about three-fifths of the car's life, so I wouldn't put too much stock in the "never rained on" claim. Still, judging from the pictures, it definitely looks like a clean, running, decent example of a C3, though there are some caveats the seller is upfront about. The radio is missing, the air-conditioning doesn't work, and there's a "very small blemish" on the driver's side front fender. Also, its engine may be said to be original, but the paint is not. This car was originally white, but was later painted black sometime prior to the current owner's acquisition in 1992. And the steering wheel is an aftermarket part.

If you aren't super picky or looking for a museum piece, this could be a great C3 to buy. Original V8, no huge issues, and those pop-up headlights? C'mon. It's being sold out of Fairfield, New Jersey, in case you're nearby and want to check it out.
