F1 U.S. Grand Prix Qualifying Postponed By Rain Until Raceday Sunday
Seems like everybody knew this was coming but now it's official; the Formula One sanctioning body is bumping qualifying for the 2015 United States Grand Prix to 9AM CDT Sunday, October 25th. This will be the first time F1 has qualifying and racing on the same day since 2013.
While spectators and pit crews were getting drenched, cars were running around the track today in FP3 (the third session of "free practice") but after a few postponements to later in the day, folks in charge decided it was just to wet to run at race pace.
Qualifying for the Porsche Supercup was cancelled due to a downpour first, with Formula 1 following suit.
Assuming the weather lets up, F1 qualifying will take place at 9:00AM Austin, Texas time (CTD) with the actual race going off at 2:00PM.
Motorsport.com says this is only "the fourth time an F1 qualifying session has been moved to Sunday following the 2004 and 2010 Japanese Grands Prix and the 2013 Australian Grand Prix."
Updates as we have them, but for now it looks like racers and everybody in the grandstands are going to have a busy day tomorrow!
