See The 1,088 Hp Electric "Concept One" On The Move
When a 23 year old introduces an electric super car to the world with a claimed 1,088 hp, 2,802 lb-ft of torque and a top speed of 189 MPH, people are going to listen—very suspiciously. That is exactly what Croatian designer Mate Rimac did at the Frankfurt Auto Show when he introduced the "Concept One".
Beyond the impressive figures we've already mentioned Rimac claims the car—powered by four electric motors controlled in front and rear sectors—will be capable of a 2.8 second 0-60 time as well as being able to travel 366 miles on a single charge.
All of these claims sound fantastic on paper, but we've yet to see any proof of the car's ability to do any of these things. We liked Rimac's Electric E30 and the Concept One sounds awesome if it can live up to the claims being made about it. For these reasons we'd love to tell you this video demonstrates the Concept One's impressive performance capabilities—it doesn't.
What it does show is the fact the Concept One can move under its own power and it looks fantastic doing it. It doesn't sound like much, but it's certainly more convincing than seeing the car sitting on a podium in Frankfurt as far as making us believe the Concept One will deliver on it's promises. When you're talking about a 23 year old's electric brainchild that could challenge the supercar establishment, every little bit of evidence helps.
