Watch This Plane Nearly Plow A German Sunbather
A man nearly had his day at the beach ended all too abruptly, as a Piper PA-28 Archer II (D-EIGL) passed just inches over him while approaching a seaside airport in Heligoland, an island north of Germany, followed by smashing through a flimsy fence at the airport perimeter.
After hitting the fence, we see the plane actually bouncing on the sand just short of the runway apron before landing. The 52 year-old pilot, Juergen Drucker claims he misjudged the landing. He told the Daily Mail,
"It was me flying and I'm really sorry. I wasn't one of my greatest achievements in the cockpit. In my defence I can say that I didn't see him because he was lying down and I'm just very grateful it worked out well and I didn't land on him."
The sunbather has not been identified, but Uwe Kaiser who was also on the beach, said the other planes arriving there were at least 6 metres high, and that the man heard the plane coming, turned around and saw how low it was, then buried his face in the sand. The man was then seen standing up and simply walking away, probably to go change his shorts.
