Dakar 'Big Truck' Racing At The Baja 500, If They Remember To Sign Up

Gerard De Rooy, almost-winner of last year's "big truck" class at Dakar, is reportedly competing in this year's Baja 500 as per his team's Facebook page. Problem is, he's nowhere to be found on the official 2014 Baja 500 entry list and the registration deadline is tomorrow. Somebody get that Dutchman an entry form!

De Rooy suffered a major disappointment at the 2014 Dakar race when he won after narrowly avoiding a collision with a disabled vehicle, only to rescind the trophy to the perennially-victorious Russians when race officials decided the accident threw off the results.

It'd be great to see him at Baja, and it would be an absolute riot to see his massive Iveco Powerstar squeezing through the tight and technical tracks of the Mexican peninsula. But he seriously does have to get his shit together and get registered if doesn't want to ship that beast across the ocean for nothing.

De Rooy's team posted this to their Facebook on May 9th saying "So, everything is ready to go to Houston Texas USA. #SCORE Baja 500" in Dutch. The race goes down in 25 days, with pre-running beginning at the end of this month.
