2016 Ford F-150 Brings Back The Sexy 'Tremor' Trim With A Lame Name
The last generation F-150 Tremor was no SVT Lighting replacement, but it did have a really nice red-trimmed soft-touch interior which is coming back as an option on the 2016 Ford F-150 XLT and Lariat.
20" dark aluminum rims, black running boards, smoked headlamps, vinyl graphics, those awesome red-stitched seats with Alcantara inserts, plus red on the steering wheel, transmission boot (ugh, yeah it's got one) and instrument panel rounds out the setup. Which will henceforth be called the Special Edition Appearance Package as available on XLT and Lariat trucks with a Sport Appearance Package.
Maybe they got tired of us bitching about the "Tremor" name being an oversell... now I kinda miss it.
Other aesthetic changes for the 2016 F-150 include "Tuxedo Black" being replaced by "Shadow Black," which sounds stupid but I'm told Tuxedo has more metallic flake to it, so new black F-150s will be a little less reflective. Also "Lithium Gray" is replacing "Guard Metallic," and based on the names it sounds like the "silver/grey" option is getting dialed down on sparkliness too.
Obviously the 2016 Ford F-150 won't be going through as full-on of a design shift since the entire assembly line was retooled for the aluminum '15 redesign. The only other changes we've heard about on the new truck so far: trailer backup assist and Sync 3. Which, actually, should make the truck a whole lot nicer to live with.
