When it's time to create a major promotional TV spot, sometimes automakers (and often, oil companies) go for broke. Awesomeness isn't always a function of production budget and cinematographic excellence, but often it is. What's the most awesome automotive commercial ever made?
We're digging back to 1997 to one of Shell Oil's Ferrari spectaculars. In this one, a Ferrari F310B F1 car is refueled in mid-burn through the Mojave desert. And why not pull out the platinum card, when you've just put together the makings of the Scuderia Ferrari dream team of Rory Byrne, Ross Brawn and Michael Schumacher. (They couldn't hold back Jacques Villeneuve and his Williams-Renault that year, but the world would hear them soon enough.)
