What's The Best Rental Car?
We've got a three-day weekend coming up and many will be traveling. That means, for many, a trip to the rental car counter. In honor of these travelers we ask: what's the best rental car?
Let's keep things simple — we're only talking about currently available rental cars. So no cheating by calling the original GT-H as your choice.
Given the options on the rental market, we're going to go out on a limb and say we'd rather have an E-Series Ford Van than most rental cars out there right now. Why? For starters, it's one of the few readily available rental vehicles you can get with a V10 engine. With max seating of 15 individuals, you can totally bring your party with you (try doing that in a Taurus) wherever you go. We once knew someone who rented one in Las Vegas and never had to get a room, thus saving more than he spent on the van in the first place. And captain's chairs? Sure, the XLT Premium only seats seven, but with a DVD entertainment system and leather-trimmed captain's chairs it's a comfortable way to get around. Secondly, even with a $100-and-higher per-day rental fee, it's still cheaper than the AVIS Chevy Camaro.
Plus, as we've opined before, the Econoline is just awesome.
