Weekend Motorsports Roundup, Oct. 24-25, 2015
Welcome to the Jalopnik Weekend Motorsports Roundup, where we let you know what's going on in the world of racing, where you can see it, and where you can talk about it all in one convenient place. Where else would you want to spend your weekend?
Formula One makes its way to Texas this weekend with the United States Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas, where we'll bring you all of the happenings from the race. We're even hosting a meet up for the folks joining us this weekend, so come hang out.
For those not here but still in the country, you don't have to be a night owl to watch this weekend's F1 race like you're probably used to being — it'll be on at 2:30 p.m. ET on Sunday. As far as the racing goes, points leader Lewis Hamilton has quite the record in Austin with two wins in the three races since COTA took over as the host track.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race happens at the same time on Sunday, so my advice would be to either buy a second monitor to watch both at the same time or get your thumbs ready for some intense channel flipping. Or, just set the DVR and watch one later. That might be the easiest and most cost effective of the two.
The reason this NASCAR race is also one to mark (really boldly) on your calendar is that Talladega Superspeedway marks the cutoff for the second round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup, and the final laps will likely be a major nail-biting occasion to see who makes it through and who gets knocked out of championship contention.
For those looking for two-wheeled action, MotoGP runs the Grand Prix of Malaysia this weekend (and last weekend's MotoGP race explains why everyone should watch more motorcycle racing, according to our own Sean MacDonald) while a tape-delayed showing of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship will also be on. Overseas — and also tape delayed — the World Rally Championship and British Touring Car Championship also get a bit of air time this weekend.
If we missed any showings or you know of a good live stream happening this weekend, feel free to share in the comments below.
