The F1 Drivers' Parade Will Feature Classic 'Merican Muscle Cars
In honor of Formula One's return to the United States, the race's drivers will make their parade lap on steely American chariots glistening in the cool Austin sun. Vettel will take the pole in a 1962 Chevy Corvette with his teammate Mark Webber in a 1971 Buick GS400.
If we had to pick a favorite, Marussia will be rolling in the most lopsided and metaphorically significant pair of vehicles, with Charles Pic waving from the back of a luxurious and bright red 1973 Cadillac Eldorado and Timo Glock in an economical green 1964 AMC Rambler. The F1 world is full of the have and have-nots (although everyone claims there's a team with more money than them, as if there's some mystical Bill Gates Racing program flooding money into their car).
The pipets pair of cars goes to Kimi and Romain Grosjean in a '69 and '68 Impala, respectively. Oh that it could be a '64 and oh that Kimi could be driving. He is a man who knows what he's doing.
Hometown hero Sergio Pérez picked up the glorious 1971 Chevy Corvette. Wait for the people in sombreros to lose their shit and go flag-waving all around the track like it was Cinco de Mayo (sure to make Grosjean nervous).
