The $500 Craigslist Rally Car Hits Forza Motorsport
Last week, we told you the amazing story of how Bill Caswell took a $500 Craigslist BMW to a World Rally Championship event. Now a Jalopnik reader has dropped the car into Forza Motorsport 3. Wanna drive it?
One of the cool things about Forza is that it allows for user-generated content; spend enough time with the in-game livery editor and the appropriate reference material, and you can create a world's worth of cars that the game didn't ship with. Jalopnik reader Sam Carter read Caswell's story and was inspired to create the BMW that you see here. We love it.
Naturally, there are a few inaccuracies: Forza doesn't offer a four-door E30 318i, so Sam installed his livery on an M3. And because rally tires, off-road suspension, and dirt tracks aren't available in the game, you have no choice but to hoon around on tarmac. Still, we're not complaining. The attention to detail is pretty impressive — Caswell's digital crapcan sports everything from WRC Mexico-specific decal panels to the "Shit Happens/This is Proof" bumper-sticker/Sharpie combination found on the real car's trunk.
If you want a copy of the livery, Sam can be found on Xbox Live under the gamertag RandoorRandolfs. If you want to race against Bill in Forza, his gamertag is ChaosRacerX. If you want to hit a WRC event in a $500 ball of uggo, you have our blessing. As if there was any doubt.
