Road-Destroying Beavers Are The Latest Thing To Fear In Russia

There are a lot of things you should be rightfully afraid afraid of in Russia, like meteors , and everyone who lives there. Add one more thing to that list: beavers.

Beavers are creatures typically known for their industriousness and their building skills. This is not the case in Russia. In at least one area of the country, beavers have declared war on the road system.

The BBC reports that a busy stretch of road in the Sverdlovsk region of the Urals collapsed recently. At first engineers thought a pipe under the road collapsed, but upon further investigation, they found that the culprits were actually beavers who blocked the pipe while building a dam.

And not just any beavers — young hooligan beavers with no respect for authority.

One expert tells the ITAR-TASS news agency the disruption was probably caused by younger beavers. "Young individuals build dams and settle in new places," biologist Pavel Kosintsev says. "There's only one way to protect communications from these animals – put iron bars over the pipes."

It's only a matter of time before the beavers come for you and your children, people of Russia. The first shot has been fired. What will you do now?
