Marquez Does A Backflip, Rossi And Pedrosa Are Moving To Suzuki, And Everything Is A Lie

El Día de los Santos Inocentes, or Holy Innocents day, is sort of like April Fool's Day for Spain and many other Latin America Countries, only it's on December 28th. While the people who live in those Spanish-speaking countries might have been prepared for they day's jokes, we motorcyclists in the rest of the world weren't, and a few of us fell for some cruel racing-related tricks.

The first was this video showing MotoGP ace Marc Marquez apparently doing a wild motocross-style backflip:

"Did you see Marquez's post on IG?" came the first text. Immediately I went to his page and saw the clip above. "Is there anything that guy isn't incredible at?" I thought to myself as I shared it to social media. And, with how talented the kid is, it didn't seem impossible so I didn't really think too much of it.

But then I started to think about how fluid he looked for his "first time," and then I watched it with sound. Then I knew something had to be up. A little time on the Googles and I found this Red Bull clip, explaining how it all went down.

I still don't think it's impossible for Marquez to conquer the backflip at some point. The dude is a baby and doing things no one else can on a motorcycle so why not, so the most ridiculous part is that Honda would let him.

Then, I was scrolling through my Facebook feed when I saw a news piece from Autoevolution.com about how MotoGP racers Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) and Dani Pedrosa (Honda) were going to move to Suzuki for the 2017 season.

Journalists love nothing more than to break a news story, and when I realized none of the other motorcycle sites had it and my mind was already diving into all sorts of jokes. Then I realized there was no way Yamaha was going to let Rossi go and I'd been duped. Again.

At least I didn't get hosed as badly as Autoevolution when they published that shit though.

We'll be ready for you and your jokes next year, el Día de los Santos Inocentes.
