Is The 340 Horsepower Porsche Cayman GTS Truly Worth It?
I recently spent a week in a new Porsche Cayman S. It looked great, handled great, sounded great, and was capable of fulfilling every speed-desire in my heart. It was also nearly $89,000. So is the new Porsche Cayman GTS, with 15 extra horsepower, really worth it?
That's the question asked in this latest video from Auto Express, where both the Cayman GTS and its counterpart the Boxster GTS are put through their paces.
The GTS models have a few added tweaks besides the power bump. They get the sports exhaust, active suspension management and Sports Chrono standard, as well as some interior tweaks. PDK models also get launch control.
But they're also $10,000-$12,000 more than the Boxster S and Cayman S, respectively, and that seems like a lot to ask for a car that's crept up more into 911 territory than ever.
Worth it? Auto Express says probably not. Spec up an S model on either car with some of this equipment and you're probably good to go.
Not that I'm saying I'd kick a Cayman GTS out of my garage, of course...
