Here Are The Cars You'd Pay To See In A Museum

Be it in their design, cultural impact, or both, some vehicles leave a lasting impression. Good or bad, an impression is an impression. And some are good enough that a museum should hold them so future generations can look at them and see why they have the significance that they do.

We asked readers what cars would they pay to see in a museum. These were their answers.

Lamborghini Miura. The NY MoMA got it wrong last time; this, not the Countach, deserves the recognition. Arguably one of the most beautiful cars ever made—if not the most beautiful.

There are several racecars I'd love to see in the flesh, but if I had to pick just one, I'd go with the Penske PC23 with the pushrod Benz motor Al Unser Jr. won the '94 Indy 500 with. The history and story behind that car is still fascinating to this day and such a feat will likely never happen again at Indy.

Thanks to easy access to premier antique, classic and vintage racing events, I've seen alot...but since Chaparrals units were SO limited, I've never seen any of them. The 2E is the pinnacle of Chaparral's innovation ideology. Maybe, someday a trip to Midland, Texas could happen.

The abandoned Antarctic snow cruiser. it would be amazing to see such an interesting piece of history that was too ambitious for its time.

Any of the Auto Union type A, B, C or D cars. I understand their historical correlations and I also know you can't even see an A or B. But pretty sure there's a replica type C. I would pay to see a supercharged V16, even if its a replica.

Without a doubt: The Vector W8.

I missed the one that was sitting in Sinsheim, Germany. Got an invitation from museum staff to even take pictures from the inside, but sadly, travel plans for that year fell through, and then the owner decided to sell it.

It had the most gorgeous color of all W8, a dark blue tone that almost looked like black from most angles. Fantastic car. Much rarer than an F40, yet sadly overlooked by many because of the inflated claims of its maker.

Far and away the most achingly beautiful car ever made.

That said, museums often don't feel like the best platform to admire such cars from an enthusiast's perspective.

The Miura gets a lot of recognition as the most beautiful car ever made, but I think the 2000 GT looks better.
