Father Of The Year Leaves His Baby In A Freezing Car For Eight Hours

Kids! I don't have 'em, but I can only imagine how hard they are to keep track of. One minute they're with you, and another minute they're off sticking metal objects into the electric socket to see what happens. It's why my parents kept us locked in the basement most of the time. I think that's why they did it, anyway.

But parents too can be guilty of misplacing their children. Take this winner from the Albany suburb of Colonie, New York. He reportedly left his 1-year-old son in his car for more than eight hours earlier this week in temperatures that never went above 15 degrees, according to the AP.

The dad only realized his mistake when he got a phone call from his wife. I'm glad at least one person in that relationship stopped to think, "Where's the kid at?" But the good news here — what I would call "miraculous news," if I were a douchey local TV reporter — is that the boy wasn't injured. He was taken to a hospital and later released. This could have ended much, much worse than it did.

In all seriousness, how do you forget that your kid's in the back seat? Can some parents out there explain to me how this could happen? Or is it completely inexcusable?
