Breaking! Toyota Defies Industry, Sells Cars; 14.4% Increase In Sales Over June

Toyota couldn't ask for anything more — reporting their best-ever first-half sales in history. They hit calendar-year-to-date sales of 1,223,542. June sales were up 14.4% over last June. Toyota saw the Camry lead their passenger car division with sales up 38.7% over last June — allowing the automaker to post sales of 117,769 passenger cars for the month. Light truck sales were also up, a "meager" 7.6% — selling 77,563 trucks and SUV's. The other note was the Prius — which saw sales of 9,696 — an increase of 0.8%. There's probably more in the press release, but we're getting a headache from all of the numbers.

Toyota Reports June Sales With Strong Second-Quarter And First-Half Performance

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today reported its best-ever first-half sales in 49 years of business in the U.S. with calendar-year-to-date (CYTD) sales of 1,223,542. June sales of 223,018, an increase of 14.4 percent over last June, contributed to a record-setting second quarter, with sales of 678,691 units.
