If they would just put the niceness of the Mountaineer into the Explorer! It took Ford how many years to get the Explorer to the point where it had navigation? They just keep dumbing down the Explorer so that the Mountaineer looks better.

They just need something like the '65 Monterey or '67 Cougar -- related to a Ford, but with an x-factor of its own.

I thought Mercury was going somewhere (finally) with the Messenger concept car. Sure, it was based on the previous generation Mustang's platform, but it looked really cool. Guess not, though.

Isn't a Mountaineer (or any other Merc for that matter) only for those septugenarians who were youngsers when Mercury actually MEANT something?

How about instead of giving Mercury a reason to live they instead just get rid of it and concentrate on fewer brands and making vehicles people will actually buy at a profit?
