The boost, channeled through a Spearco air-to-air intercooler in the front air dam, should be good for about 100 extra horsepower from the 320 HP 5.4-liter V8. Given that this is SEMA we're talking about, Turbonetics was also obliged to add a lowering kit, custom body and paint work, meaty wheels and tires, carbon fiber and suede interior bits and a mega-wattage Rockford Fosgate sound system. Really though, we'd have been cool with just the hundred extra ponies.

<![CDATA[ RUF Electric Porsche 911 Concept Finally Revealed ]]> Not too long ago we reported that German tuning house RUF was preparing to unveil an all-electric Porsche Cayman. Today, RUF has shown their Tesla-fighter is in fact a Porsche 911. The concept is fueled by 96 lithium-ion battery packs weighing a total of nearly 1,200 pounds; despite the weight, the 204 HP electric motor uses its 480 lb-ft of torque to hit 60 MPH in under 7 seconds. Looking at the battery layout in the images below, it appears RUF balanced the weight as best they could, but that's a lot of ballast to haul; we're wondering how handling will be affected. More stats after the jump.

RUF claims that, despite the battery heft, the electric 911 will hit nearly 140 MPH and, "driven normally," should have a range between 155-180 miles. "Driven normally" is a big caveat, however: Normally for a Porsche or normally for a Taurus? Either way, we're all for more performance electrics, so we look forward to more of RUF's test results — and the opportunity to get our hands on one. [4WheelsNews]

<![CDATA[ Most Hideous Nissan GT-R Ever? ]]> Messing with the Nissan GT-R is risky. Even though you're not supposed to, sometimes the results can be quite tasteful. The problem, though, is when something like this happens. Someone decided it would be a good idea to wrap their GT-R in black and bright-green matte-finish vinyl. As if that wasn't bad enough, a set of gaudy 22" rims have also been bolted on. The Zele carbon fiber body kit wouldn't have wouldn't have been terrible by itself, but it just adds to the mess here. Sure, the car probably has a bit more oomph thanks to an HKS boost controller and a Mine's exhaust, but it still can't outrun its ugly. Surprisingly, the car does not belong to Brian O'Conner, Paul Walker's character in The Fast And The Furious. Remember his Eclipse? We've included it in the gallery below...see if you can figure out which car is which.

<![CDATA[ VW Scirocco Hypothetically Tuned By ABT ]]> The new Volkswagen Scirocco may just be hitting the roads, but somehow tuner ABT Sportsline has already released their version of the swoopy hatch. Oh wait, no they haven't, these are just renderings. Yes, as has become common practice for tuners anxious to get a jump on the competition, ABT has resorted to releasing Photoshop-enhanced pictures of a standard Scirocco to display the aftermarket upgrade package they allegedly have. The car claims to bump up the power of the 2.0-liter engine to 240 HP, to be sent to your choice of gaudy, oversized rims. Of course, we can't get the Scirocco in America anyways, so we'd rather fantasize about the Scirocco GT24 Nürburgring endurance racer. Press release after the jump.

"The very first Scirocco was the absolute star amongst compact sport coupes”, reminisces Hans-Juergen Abt. The manager of the renowned car tuner is just as fascinated with the great-grandson of the Wolfsburger trend-setter: “The Scirocco looks really dynamic and the handling is very agile.” All the more so with the Kempten modifications. They really make a storm out of a desert wind: The ABT Front spoiler makes the unmistakable face of the coupe even more distinctive.
Even while stationary it is clear, who the “king of the ring” or the street is, as the ABT Scirocco seems to virtually lie in ambush of the kilometers ahead of it. This impression is supported by the lines on its sides, where the ABT Side skirts absorb and continue the sleek design. The indicated air inlets and edges in the doors underline the verve of the bodywork which rises at the back. The ABT Scirocco looks aggressive and very dynamic. The view from behind is also impressive: The ABT Rear skirt set, consisting of a rear skirt and a diagonally attached 4-pipe rear muffler, forms a sporty unit together with the ABT Rear wing.

ABT Sportsline recommends either its BR or AR alloys as an ideal complement to the extravagant body kit of the shooting star. The wheels are available in 18 to 20 inch and of course with fitting tires and wheel spacers.

ABT also has, of course, springs in its product range. They make the Scirocco up to 30 millimeters lower – and thereby even more agile – on the road. The complete Upgrade Kit consists of the design pack, the 4-pipe rear muffler, the springs and complete wheel sets (19 inch AR alloys,
diamond-machined and black, plus tires and wheel spacers) is available at the launch of the ABT Scirocco in January 2009 for a reasonable 5,990 Euros.

Anything that has such dynamic charisma must also have convincing performance. ABT has therefore also developed power refinements for the VW engine. The 1.4 TSI now offers 200 HP (147 kW) on the road with ABT Power instead of 160 hp (11 kW), and the turbo diesel with two liter capacity 170 hp / 125 kW (standard: 140 hp / 103kW) The ABT Scirocco will be available with these upgrades from the start. Later on in the year the compact sports coupe will also be available with an increased-power 2.0 TSI. With it the car has 240 hp / 177 kW (standard: 200 hp / 147 kW).
The brake pads of the ABT Braking system are able to cope with any situation, and with a diameter of 345 always grip powerfully. As is normal at ABT, all the details fit perfectly together and thereby result in a fascinating top range car. You can see that it comes from the very top of the range and want to drive it straight off.

<![CDATA[ Toyo Tires Shows Off 2008 SEMA Line-Up ]]> The Nissan GT-R, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, Studebaker hot rod, disfigured Bentley Continental GT, and lifted Toyota Tundra you see here are the five cars Toyo Tires will be bringing to the upcoming 2008 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. But what's the one thing they all have in common—besides wearing Toyo rubber? They're all ridiculous caricatures! Well, the 1931 Studebaker Model 54 hot rod might not be so bad, but if the rendering pictured is accurate, its non-existent ride height means it's nothing but a trailer queen. The most subtly tuned of the rest is the Nissan GT-R, which sports some carbon-fiber body parts, an Amuse titanium exhaust and Endless six-piston brakes. The rest of the bunch are a bit more radical.

The green Mitsubish Lancer Evo X is boasting 650 HP. The Bentley Continental GT (yes that's what's hiding under that awful body kit) brags of 800 HP. The Tundra? Well it's a huge lifted truck with green tribal grpahics...need we say more? And to think this is just the tip of the SEMA iceberg. [via MotorAuthority]

<![CDATA[ Seibon Dry-Look Carbon Fiber Makes Godzilla Look Cheap ]]> Uh-oh, more folks messing with Godzilla. At first we liked the way the dry carbon fiber hood and trunk on this Nissan GT-R looked compared to the more popular glossy stuff. But the more we stare at it, the more we think it looks kinda cheap. We're reminded of guys driving around in Honda Civic coupes with carbon fiber hoods that were once glossy but have since faded in the sun. That's not good considering these parts from Seibon are so new they're not even out yet. Perhaps it's just that the rest of the car doesn't match the dry carbon fiber?

If they'd made the rest of the car flat black it would match better. Or perhaps they should have removed the rear wing. Do you think it would look better with normal "wet" carbon fiber, or is there a way to salvage the "dry" look? [via GTRblog]

<![CDATA[ Toyota Reveals Venza Project Car For SEMA ]]> We're not going to pretend to be excited about the new Toyota Venza crossover, but Toyota's trying to get someone under 40 interested by bringing a pair of restyled Venzas to the SEMA show in Vegas later this month. Tuners Five Axis and Street Design have been tapped to make the mods, and it's interesting to see the different approaches the two companies are taking in their design renders.

Five Axis is playing on the Venza's utility roots by adding style but also a number of cargo and convenience features like an integrated cargo/bike carrier. Street Design went a more traditional route with huge wheels and tires, some ground effects, and a full complement of interior luxury touches. Since these are just models for inspiration, we'll have to wait for SEMA to see how close the two Venzas get to their renderings, but we'll be sure to bring you the results from the show floor. <![CDATA[ Saab 9-3 Turbo X Tuned By Hirsch Pumps Out 300 HP ]]> The Saab 9-3 Turbo X is a pretty slick Scandinavian alternative to the Teutonic norm, but with a confident all-wheel-drive system, it's just begging for more power. That's where Saab tuner Hirsch comes in, with their upgrade package for the 2.8-liter turbocharged V6. Utilizing a new intercooler, air intake box and an engine software hack, the package bumps power by 20 HP up to 300 and provides 317 ft-lbs on a fat torque curve. Altogether it means a top speed of 161 MPH with the sprint from 0-62 MPH taking just 5.3 seconds. It's just too bad it doesn't meet the regulations of the Swedish Touring Car Championship. <![CDATA[ Street Concepts Hyundai Genesis Coupe Concept Coming To SEMA ]]> An urban-camo version of the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe will be debuting at this year's SEMA show in Las Vegas. As the rendering of the car shows, it'll employ the "secret military project gone horribly wrong" style of SEMA design, as opposed to the "straight forward performance" look of the HKS Genesis Coupe or the "possibly ripped-off Lexus tuner design" look of the RMR Genesis Coupe. The performance enhancements will include a new exhaust, cold-air intake, tweaked suspension and Brembo brakes. Larger version of the rendering here. Press release below the jump.

<![CDATA[ Amuse Squeezes 600 HP From Nissan GT-R ]]> If you thought the HKS GT570 was a bit underpowered, this Amuse-tuned Nissan GT-R should satisfy. It's cranking out 602 HP at 6500 RPM and 571 lb-ft of torque at 5300 RPM. That's enough grunt to warrant the addition of boy-racer bits like a huge rear wing, fat lip spoiler, stiffer height-adjustable springs and carbon-kevlar Recaro seats. But, despite the extra flair, the Amuse GT-R weighs in at 100lbs less than the standard car. Parts should be officially arriving in the US early next year, but for now you can check out a clip of the Amuse GT-R ripping up Tsukuba (back when the car was only making 582 HP) from Best Motoring after the jump.

<![CDATA[ RENNtech Mercedes-Benz 6.3 AMG, First Pictures And Details ]]> The horsepower brokers over at RENNtech have turned their wrenches to the already powerful Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG to create what they consider to be a fitting heir to the Mercedes 6.3, appropriate given the name and the fact that latest C-Class has grown nearly to the size of that ultimate sedan. In order to achieve proper Überness, they've released the 6.2 AMG V8 from the grips of unnecessary restriction and managed to squeeze out nearly 100 additional horsepower. The sleek sedan achieves up to 548 HP and 510 lb-ft of torque thanks to new engine management, long-tube headers and new pipes. To handle all of that extra power you might want to opt for the new RENNtech brake kit and, just to be safe, throw in the height control suspension system and some Hasselhoff to complete the German experience. Full details in the release below the jump.

RENNtech Tunes The AMG C63

40 years ago, the hottest, fastest sedan you could buy was Mercedes-Benz' 300SEL 6.3. By placing its largest engine in a mid-sized car, Mercedes' engineers created a luxurious sedan capable of out-performing some of the quickest sportscars of its day. The 6.3 remains a landmark sports sedan that continues to influence Mercedes' design direction. Nowhere is the influence of the 6.3 more evident than in AMG's current line of sports sedans. AMG's newest cars carry the first purpose-built, "all-AMG" engine design in the company's history, and the "63" designation they wear (S63, E63, etc.) is a direct reference to the 6.3.

Last year, Mercedes revisited the "bigger engine, smaller car" formula and introduced the C63 AMG. Powered by the same 6.2 liter V8 as its bigger, more expensive S and E class siblings, the C63 promised heart-stopping performance at a bargain price ... but, somewhere between concept and production, something happened: the C63 put out a "mere" 451 hp.

While the C63 is certainly no slouch, it didn't make the same 507 or 518 horsepower that its E and S class siblings made. Some of the power difference can legitimately be blamed on more restrictive intake and exhaust paths - after all, the big V8 is a tight fit in the smaller C class, but this fails to explain how the same engine, when found under the hood of a CLK63 AMG Cabrio, makes 475 hp.

Where did that 24 hp go?

"Mercedes restricted the car," explains Hartmut Feyhl. "So, our first step in extracting more power from the C63 is to de-restrict the car." Of course, in this modern age of software encryption and electronic obstacles, that kind of "de-restricting" is easier said than done - which is why Feyhl is exactly the man you want to talk to when it's time to take your C63 to the next level.

Hartmut Feyhl was technical director at AMG North America before forming his own company, RENNtech, in 1989. Since then, Feyhl built a reputation as one of the world's premier tuners and America's foremost authority on Mercedes-Benz high performance.

It should come as no surprise, then, that RENNtech's first offering for the C63 was an effective ECU software upgrade (ECU1) to unleash the same "factory" 475 hp and 465 lb-ft (up from 451 and 443) as the CLK.

It should also come as no surprise, then, that RENNtech didn't leave it at that! "In a sense, the C63 is a return to the roots for Mercedes, and for AMG, and also for RENNtech," says Feyhl. "It is a very special car, as the C class has grown to about the same size as the 6.3 and the W124 Hammer, but with much more power. We want to see how far we can go with this car."

With that in mind, RENNtech has introduced a comprehensive line of performance products to turn the AMG C63s of the world into more focused trackday performers, starting with the car you see here.

To get the most from the C63, RENNtech began with the ECU2 high-performance software. Much more than a (relatively) simple de-restriction, this flavor of RENNtech's software optimizes every aspect of engine performance, building massive amounts of torque across the low-to-mid rpm range and boosting the C63's top speed to 187 mph. When combined with RENNtech's stainless-steel long-tube headers and new, track-oriented sound/performance pipes, the RENNtech software produces 548 peak horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque.

RENNtech sharpens the C63's handling reflexes with a fully adjustable sport suspension and adjustable front and rear camber bushings that allow customers to "dial-in" ride height and shock damping while the camber bushings help maintain proper camber and alignment for maximum grip (RENNtech considers these camber bushings a must-have item for serious performance drivers).

To rein in the C63's newfound horsepower, RENNtech offers maximum stopping power in the form 15.2" 2 PC rotors clamped by RENNtech calipers. Along with stainless steel braided lines front and rear, these brakes improve overall feel and driver confidence at speed. Additional cooling from RENNtech's carbon-fiber brake ducts further reduce fade - another must-have upgrade for competitive driving styles.

In the past, few would have considered a car like the C63 a truly capable trackday ride, but with the success of track events like the AMG Challenge and SLR.Club Trophy, it is clear that there are a growing AMG drivers who want to experience their car on the track. "We are all racers," says Feyhl, "and when we find ourselves on a track, we want to be competitive."

With almost 100 hp over the stock C63, RENNtech-tuned C63s will probably be competitive enough for most people - but keep in mind that this is RENNtech (birthplace of the "real" 722 SLR, where a 900 lb-ft twin-turbo V12 sedan is a daily occurrence) and that 2009 marks RENNtech's 20th anniversary ... does Herr Feyhl have some kind of "birthday party" in mind for RENNtech that involves the C63 and ties all this rich history and tradition together?

Probably!

<![CDATA[ HKS GT570 Nissan GT-R Makes 559 HP... At The Wheels ]]> Plenty of tuning options for the Nissan GT-R are popping up, but few are as appealing as this HKS GT570 power upgrade. The standard GT-R is rated at 480 HP, but this kit is supposed to up that to just over 570 HP at the flywheel by way of a new exhaust, intake pipe kit, boost controller and wastegate actuators. A shop in Hong Kong decided to find out for themselves, so they installed one of the HKS kits, strapped the car to a dyno, and ended up with a reading of about 559 HP at the wheels. Considering that you expect 10-15% of the power at the flywheel to be lost in the drivetrain on most cars, that's an astonishing result. Either the GT-R's drivetrain is stupidly efficient, the HKS kit is underrated, or perhaps a bit of both. Video of Godzilla on the treadmill after the jump.

<![CDATA[ Hamann Mini Cooper S, D: One Burns Rubber, One Burns Oil ]]> An option for those wanting more power from their Mini Cooper S or Cooper D, tuner Hamann has introduced some new upgrades. Boosting power up to 136 HP for the Cooper D, and 230 HP for the Cooper S, both benefit from the BMW tuner's experience in reprogramming Motronic control units. But whatever good Hamann has done underhood is mostly ruined by what they've done to the rest of the car. Yes, low-riding coil-over suspension and big wheels are probably good for tackling a twisty track, but when combined with Hamann's body kit and graphics it voids out any of the Mini's inherent retro-cool. Press release after the jump.

HAMANN presents its tuning programme for the current MINI

Already since 1986, HAMANN-Motorsport develops and manufactures products for the individualisation of BMW automobiles. Therefore, it is only consistent that the technicians of the Laupheim-based company also focus on the "small relative" in the BMW family and develop an extensive tuning programme for the MINI. The result: a powerful performance increase, road holding aerodynamics components, striking 18-inch light alloy rims and noble interior modifications in aluminium and carbon.

For both, the MINI COOPER S and the MINI COOPER D, HAMANN offers powerful performance increase components by re-programming the serial Motronic. According to the ignition map optimisation, the Diesel-aggregate has 136 hp / 100 kW at 4,000 r.p.m. and a maximum torque of 300 Nm at 1,750 - 2,000 r.p.m. This equals an increase of 26 hp / 20 kW. The HAMANN technicians achieved an even larger performance boost with the petrol version. Instead of 175 hp / 128 kW, the COOPER S then has sappy 204 hp/ 150 kW at 5,500 r.p.m. and a torque of 300 Nm at 1,600 - 5,000 r.p.m. Accordingly also the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h improves by half a second. The maximum speed is approx. 5 km/h faster than with a serial motor. But there is another, significantly greater performance increase for the trendy buggy. This is reserved to the COOPER S and is called SPORTKIT CS 230. And the name says it all: After tuning the car with a modified serial Motronic, a new supercharged air cooler and by using a HAMANN sport muffler, the MINI offers 230 PS / 169 kW at 6,050 r.p.m. and 330 Nm torque at 3,860 r.p.m. The top speed spurts to 238 km/h. But the enormous agile response behaviour and the improved high-revving character of the optimised engine are even more important for everyday use.

The lifestyle design of the HAMANN aerodynamics kit also presents itself strikingly racy. The serial front skirt does not only profit from its optic enhancement, but at the same time, the lifting forces are reduced, leading to an increased stability mainly at high speeds. The entire HAMANN front skirt is an alternative. It produces output at the front axle and supplies the air cooler and the front breaks with even more fresh air. The HAMANN side sills give the MINI a more elongated and lowered look. A rear diffuser which was especially developed for COOPER S models extends the serial skirt downwards and turns the two end pipes of the HAMANN sport exhaust system skilfully into focus.

The HAMANN rim programme takes the individual wishes of the MINI clientele into account. No matter if the customer seeks a strikingly sportive or noble and elegant version - HAMANN offers a variety of wheel designs in many sizes. <![CDATA[ Roush Mustang Stage 3 Suspension, Now Sold Separately ]]> Good news for 2003 through 2009 Ford Mustang owners that don't want to throw down $21,000 on a complete Roush Stage 3 kit: The suspension alone is now available separately for just $1,449, meaning it's now affordable to make your 'Stang handle. The complete kit is a direct replacement for the spongy stock suspension, lowers the car 1", and includes springs, dampers, jounce bumpers and anti-roll bars. Full details follow the jump.

ROUSH® STAGE 3™ SUSPENSION AVAILABLE TO ALL MUSTANG OWNERS WHO WANT TO PULL Gs

LIVONIA, Mich. (July 31, 2008) - One of the things that sets the ROUSH®
Stage 3™ Mustang apart from the competition is the road-hugging,
highly-tuned suspension package. Previously, this vaunted suspension
package was only available as part of a ROUSH Stage 3 vehicle build, but
now anyone with a 2005 to 2009 Ford Mustang can feel what a 1G lateral
skid pad rating can give you on the daily drive.

Developed by some of the top chassis engineers in the industry, the
ROUSH Stage 3 Suspension Package is the result of hundreds of hours of
testing and thousands of miles on both the street and racetracks across
the country. Tests, including slalom, lane change, skid pad, and were
performed on a wide variety of road surfaces to provide the best
combination of ride comfort and road handling. Data was captured and
evaluated using a DIVAS Data Acquisition System, the same equipment used
by the Ford vehicle engineers. Overall, it took more than six months of
non-stop research and development to create one of the finest
suspensions available today.

The complete kit includes springs, dampers, jounce bumpers and
anti-roll bars which work together in harmony and provide optimum
performance on the street or track. The suggested retail is $1,499.00
(part number 401761), and when installed will lower the car
approximately one inch for a more aggressive stance. All instructions
and necessary OEM-grade hardware is included.

The front anti-roll bar is more than 45 percent stiffer than the stock
unit and is a solid material, unlike most others on the market which are
hollow. This helps to significantly reduce body roll, and ROUSH takes
the additional step to forge and machine the bar ends so that all the
joints are parallel and surfaces match for joint integrity. The rear
anti-sway bar is also solid and is heavier to help balance the vehicle
and remove some of the understeer that is a characteristic of the
Mustang.

The twin-tube shocks have a unique valving and will keep the maximum
tire contact patch on the ground, even while driving over uneven
terrain. They were developed in part with an advanced 7-post shaker rig
like many of the NASCAR teams now utilize to hone their chassis setups.
Like all the metal components in the Stage 3 Suspension Package, the
shocks are powder coated for corrosion resistance. The springs
themselves are cold wound and made from high chrome silicone steel. They
are pre-set so they won't sag.

The ROUSH engineers paid particular attention to the bushings and
jounce bumpers, areas other companies tend to overlook. The bushings,
though stiffer than OEM, are a bit softer than other third-party pieces
which allows for more compliance over low speed bumps. There is a unique
spiral groove cut in the front and rear bushings which helps to keep the
grease in place and quiets the unit. The jounce bumpers were actually
designed to act as a spring assist, and are constructed from an
OEM-quality, micro-cellular material.

"ROUSH has always been known for being the best in powertrain
components, but we also have some of the most knowledgeable chassis
engineers in the auto industry on staff," said Jack Roush. "I
continually challenge them to design suspension pieces that offer
tremendous performance enhancements yet don't make sacrifices when it
comes to ride comfort. With the ROUSH Stage 3 Suspension Package they
have met this challenge, and even exceeded my expectations for what a
performance enthusiast would want on his Mustang."

The Stage 3 Suspension Kit works with any type of wheel combinations,
but for optimum performance it is suggested that the ROUSH RR03 forged
wheels (part number 402422) and ROUSHcharger™ be utilized as well. The
suspension was specifically designed with the weight of these components
in mind.

<![CDATA[ Stark Automotive Lotus Elise R Powered By VTEC, Distinguished By Silly Paint ]]> What do you get when you take a Lotus Elise S, subtract one 2ZZ Toyota four-banger, and substitute a Honda K-Series VTEC engine? You go back one in the alphabet and get the Stark Automotive Lotus Elise R. The crew starts with a base Elise, strips the car down and rebuilds the already-nimble sports car to customer specifications. The new mill is a K20A i-VTEC that normally sees duty in Type-R Hondas mated to a K20 six-speed gearbox. The result is a car that can reach 60 mph from a cold start in 3.9 seconds and achieve a top speed of around 160 mph. And how much does all that fun set you back?

This little green Lotus is set to cost approximately $53,500, though it's cheaper if you've already got an Elise of your own that can be converted. That's a fairly reasonable price given the promised performance and the novelty of getting a car with a "powered by VTEC" sticker that is actually powered by VTEC. In addition, you might be able to shed a few pounds and Pounds by foregoing the six layers of super green spray. The car also comes with a 12-month warranty, though we're guessing it doesn't cover rolling your super Elise into the Thames at 160 mph. [AutoBlog.nl via MotorAuthority]

<![CDATA[ AC Schnitzer BMW X6 Proves You Can Make The X6 Look Worse ]]> The tuners and tunettes at AC Schnitzer have turned their wrenches toward the 2009 BMW X6, BMW's unique Sports Activity Coupe. When we reviewed the Bimmer, making it look stranger with visual tweaks wasn't high on the list of things we were hoping someone would change. That didn't seem to deter AC Schnitzer, who added a new nose with a lower skirt, along with repositioned intakes and a revised rear diffuser. Lest you think it's all weird show and no go, the company is also tweaking the diesel engines with a new motor control unit, resulting in an unknown amount of horsepower through the Schnitzer's dual-flow exhaust system.

AC Schnitzer presents the new styling and performance package for the BMW X6

The new BMW X6 exerts a particular form of magnetism: not only does its chassis sit perfectly on the road, it also magically attracts attention. Now it appears there is only one place where the fascination, dynamism and presence of the first Sports Activity Coupé (SAC) can be enhanced: in the workshops of AC Schnitzer in Aachen. The result is a visual and technical masterpiece which further magnifies the core qualities of the X6.

In the X6 by AC Schnitzer, the front skirt with its diagonal air intakes and repositioned fog lights are exposed. The drive-under protection has been removed in favour of a more dynamic contour of the spoiler edge. The rear carries a massive skirt with framed edges. In contrast to the original, all components are painted body-colour throughout, so the body appears downstretched and hence more dominant. Instead of the drive-under protection originally fitted here, AC Schnitzer Designer Michele Viandante has opted for a rear diffuser.

Another eyecatcher is the chromed tailpipes of the dual-flow exhaust system in AC Schnitzer Racing Design. The BMW X6 is not the only SAC in the world, but it is one of the first vehicles to be fitted with the multipiece AC Schnitzer alloy wheels Type Vll. With their black paint and tightly arranged spokes, the 22" rims present a challenging stance. The changing angles of the web pairs give an air of sophistication.

Typical AC Schnitzer: The vehicle's appearance is not misleading, but simply a reflection of its inner values. The renowned BMW tuner has developed a real firecracker under the bonnet of the diesel versions 3.0dX and 3.5dX with a new Motor Control Unit. Precise performance data will be released shortly. Of course, sheer engine power is not the only ingredient in sporting performance. So Manfred Wollgarten, Technical Director of AC Schnitzer, has developed a unique suspension spring kit for the X6 on the North Loop of the Nürburgring.

One thing can be disclosed: Despite its high body, the X6 by AC Schnitzer in this configuration will show a clean pair of heels to many sports saloons. Perfect handling with corresponding Look and Feel is ensured by the "EVO" 3-spoke Sport Airbag steering wheel. With AC Schnitzer, you hold the road firmly in almost any position. The X6 by AC Schnitzer takes control on public roads as willingly as on changing terrain with varying up and down gradients!

<![CDATA[ 700 HP TechArt GTstreet RS, Because The Porsche 911 GT2 Is Too Slow ]]> Porsche tuner TechArt has created the GTstreet RS, a hardcore version of the already-insane 630 HP GTstreet. Even though the current 530 HP Porsche 911 GT2 is the fastest production 911 ever, some people just want more. So, the GTstreet RS takes a standard GT2 and applies horsepower, resulting in a 700 HP monster complete with cartoon body kit. Another obscene tuner-job Porsche? Yep, but there's no way we'd turn down a drive in one. Full details in the press release below the jump.

TECHART Automobildesign GmbH presents its cutting-edge TECHART GTstreet RS, based on the Porsche 911 GT2 (997), with an impressive best time of 1.06:811 minutes on the short course of the Hockenheim circuit.

Since 2001, TECHART GTstreet vehicles have been among the fastest and highest performance sports cars in the world. This high performance is reflected in the GTstreet RS's statistics - 700 PS and 515 KW - with a maximum torque of 860 Nm. This power is achieved through the use of modified turbochargers, enlarged carbon inlet pipes, specially developed intercoolers, a sports flap exhaust combined with high-performance headers, modified pressure sensor and a sports air filter. The GTstreet model demonstrates a high level of performance in the wind tunnel: with a downforce of 10 kilos on the front and rear axles at a speed of 140 km/h.

GT RS front apron is fitted with a carbon splitter. A special air duct has been constructed to enable the cool air to pass directly behind the radiator and over the newly created air outlet thereby reducing the buoyant force on the front axle considerably. Side carbon flics support this effect in that they increase the downforce considerably by acting as a counterpart. All of the sporty basics are featured, creating a sporty appearance and fast model with its aero-bonnet, headlight shades, mirror shades, GT sill panels and carbon roof spoiler. The GT rear spoiler is particularly striking with its carbon winglets and gurney flaps. The GT RS rear apron with carbon diffuser, air outlet and carbon air wings complete the programme for this club sports car.

The performance of the GTstreet RS is also reflected in the chassis. With its TECHART Formula III forged rims and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Plus tyres, the GTstreet RS offers drivers the maximum performance for a street-worthy sports car. The impressive 1.06,811 min. lap time on the short Hockenheim course emphasises yet again the GTstreet RS's ambitions on becoming one of the fastest sports cars in the world. The special TECHART threaded chassis is also available for the GTstreet RS.

From coloured decorative stitching to complete leather furnishings in the colour of your choice or decorative components in various materials such as carbon or piano lacquer, TECHART offers a virtually endless range of possibilities to meet all tastes in furnishings. Additional accessories such as aluminium pedals, a 3-spoke sports steering wheel and illuminated door sill protectors with an individual logo complete this diverse range of furnishing options.

<![CDATA[ Novitec Rosso Twin-Supercharged Ferrari 430 Scuderia ]]> What happens when you bolt two superchargers to a Ferrari 430 Scuderia? Well, you get 717 HP at 8,350 RPM, and 532 lb-ft of torque at 6,250 RPM. That massive power is good for 216 MPH when equipped with an available taller gear ratio. Accelerating from a standstill, you'll hit 62 MPH in 3.5 seconds, and 124 MPH in 10.1 seconds. But don't think that this is just a straight-line showoff — at least it'd better not be for the price.

The standard Ferrari 430 Scuderia is already known for it's handling prowess, but Novitec Rosso goes one step further with new lowering springs. Grip is also aided by bigger Pirelli rubber, 235/30 ZR 20 in the front and 325/25 ZR 20 in the rear, wrapped around the new rims. There are other cosmetic tweaks here and there, but seeing as the whole package costs about $74,000 in addition to the cost of a standard Ferrari 430 Scuderia, we would expect nothing less.

<![CDATA[ RENNtech SLR McLaren 722 PKG2 More Powerful, More Confusing ]]> The RENNtech SLR McLaren 722 PKG2 is yet another RENNtech-tuned version of the Mercedes-Benz SLR, following in the large-horsepower footsteps of the Mercedes-Benz SLR 722 and the original RENNtech 722. The original upped power from the SLR's base 650 horses to 722 HP, thus reducing the confusion over the name (7:22 am was Stirling Moss's and Dennis Jenkinson's starting time for the 1955 Mille Miglia in the first SLR). This new version, however, now has 740 HP thanks to the addition of a new exhaust system and a re-mapped ECU. Confusion reigns once more. Press release below the jump.

RENNTECH 740 hp SLR Performance PKG2

When Mercedes-Benz introduced its SLR McLaren 722, there was a bit of confusion about the special-edition's name. Many believed the car would offer a fire-breathing, 722 hp supercharged V8, but it doesn't (it makes 650 hp). Some believed that "722" meant there would be 722 of the cars made ... but that was wrong, too. In the end, the 722 badge actually referred to 7:22AM - the starting time of Sterling Moss' epic 1955 Mille Miglia run in a then-new Mercedes SLR.

SO, 722 = 7:22AM, not 722 hp.

While the automotive enthusiasts of the world uttered a collective (and skeptical) "um ... OK", Hartmut Feyhl took one look and announced: "this car should have 722 hp". When most enthusiasts say things like that, they can be easily ignored - but when Feyhl says something like this - it happens.

Hartmut is the owner and chief engineer of RENNTECH, the South Florida-based tuning firm best known for producing incredibly powerful Mercedes-Benz automobiles that often redefine what highly-tuned exotic cars should and should not be capable of.

Last year, RENNTECH introduced their own "722" option: RENNTECH SLR Performance PKG1. RENNTECH's PKG1 upgrades included upgraded intercoolers, a larger crankshaft pulley, and custom ECU software that delivered the full 722 hp SLR customers expected (along with more than 700 lb-ft of torque!). RENNTECH announced the package in an April '07 press release titled "Here in Florida, 722 Means What You Think it Means", and SLR customers responded by sending their cars to Feyhl's Florida garage from across the Western hemisphere ...

... of course, after driving their new 722 hp rocketship for a few months, some of Feyhl's customers started asking for more, which brings us to RENNTECH's latest batch of SLR tuning options: SLR Performance PKG2 and new RENNTECH Signature 10-spoke, 3 pc. performance wheels.

Available for both the "standard" SLR and 722 models, PKG2 builds on RENNTECH's previous upgrades by adding a less restrictive, motorsports-style exhaust system and re-mapped ECU software to boost the already powerful SLR engine to over 740 hp at 6400 rpm.

To give the SLR more visual impact, RENNTECH now offers its Signature 10 spoke wheels in SLR offsets and 3 finishes (chrome, satin-ceramic, and sniper gray). Pricing for RENNTECH's SLR performance upgrades are set at 12990US for PKG1 and 26990US for PKG2. RENNTECH 20" wheels are 1950US (ea.). Big Brake upgrades also available - contact RENNTECH for more.

<![CDATA[ Supercharged Audi R8 For The Impatient ]]> Do you want an R8, but need it to have more power than the standard 4.2-liter V8's 420 HP? Well, you could sit around waiting for Audi to bring out the V10-powered model. Or you could try to swipe the V12 TDI concept. But, if you don't feel like waiting or stealing, you could have a Novidem supercharger bolted to the standard V8.

So, how much power is the blower good for? How about 537 HP at 7000 RPM, and 405 lb-ft of torque at 5900 RPM. That means the sprint from 0-60 should take less than 4 seconds. No word on pricing or US availability, but if you really want more punch from your R8, you'll find a way.

<![CDATA[ Taking A Spin In A JDM Nissan Skyline ]]> The new Nissan GT-R may be stirring up a lot of hype, but before the R35, Skyline lovers on this continent had to have their cars independently imported. The problem is, since the gray-market heyday of the '80s, the American import laws have been pretty dang strict. So, we decided to make our way up to Toronto, to check out how hoons in great white north do things. This particular operation, ONI JDM, has brought in everything from kei cars to fully-modded RX-7s, Supras, and of course Skylines. They offered to take us for a ride in their drift-spec R32 Nissan Skyline, so we bolted down the video camera and strapped ourselves in.

As you can see, the Skyline was far from stock. It started life as an R32 GTS-T, but now it's powered by a RB26 from an R33 GT-R. The ride feels brutal at first, but you quickly adjust your mindset as your expectations realize that this is a full-on stripped-out racer capable of running in the highest level of drift competition. You may think it sounds loud in the video, but that was with the silencer on, something that comes off when it hits the track.

While the shop at ONI JDM isn't particularly big, you get the sense that the business is an extension of the guys' passion. Take the guy that gave me a drive in the R32, he worked as a mechanic during the week, but was a racer and drifter on the weekends. Now, I know that many of us here at Jalopnik aren't necessarily into the tuner scene, but you've gotta admire that dual-purpose spirit of racing on Sunday then wrenching on Monday.

So, despite the free health care, we've discovered the first real reason to move to Canada: awesome JDM rides.

<![CDATA[ Geiger Ford F650 Is A Bit Late To The Game ]]> The first thought that comes to mind when taking a step back to look at the Geiger F650 is that this mechanical monstrosity is gonna be mighty thirsty for fuel. While it may not be powered by mere petrol, keep in mind that in most places diesel fuel actually costs more nowadays. Sure, you get over 737 lb-ft of torque from the 6.7-liter inline-six Cummins, but you really do need it to move this beast of burly burden.

Here's the thing, we've seen vehicles like this sort of 6/4 scale pick-em'-up truck plenty of times before. Remember the ridiculous Alton? Or this F-650 from SEMA? Or how about this piece of overcompensation? Then there's the rigs from International. And don't even get us started on our buddy Ironhide, the GMC TopKick. We're just trying to point out that maybe the German turners at Geiger didn't exactly have the timing right on bringing this to the market.

<![CDATA[ Dream Factory Blow Papa Rider ]]> The other day we showed you some cute little Japanese Kei cars converted to look like vintage American vans. Turns out they were the creation of a company called Dream Factory Blow. They're sort of an American-style surfing-obsessed customizing shop, but since they're in Japan, they work their magic on JDM rides. While stumbling around their non-English website, we found this thing. Apparently, they call it the Papa Rider, but it may not be what you initially think it is.

Now, this may look much like a vintage Dodge van that some stoner accidentally had shipped to the other side of the Pacific. But give it more than a passing glance, and you'll notice that there appears to be a Toyota Hiace van somewhere in there. Our Japanese skills are limited to what gets translated into English by BableFish, so we're not too sure and what the rationale was behind this, but we do know for certain that this thing is totally awesome.

<![CDATA[ 2009 BRABUS S V12 S Hauls Ess El ]]> Is there anything that the whacky tuners at BRABUS won't put a V12 into? Our favorite has to be the BRABUS Bullit Black Arrow which is V12 + C-Class + matte black paint. Though, we also love the SLR McLaren + Smart Car combo. And who can forget the S V12 S-equipped Brabus Maybach 57, which hit 205 mph at Nardo? By comparison, tweaking the already V12-equipped Mercedes-Benz SL seems like a no brainer.

Advance pics and details from eMercedesbenz show a look similar to previous BRABUS SL's, though with slightly revised front/rear aprons and side skirts, as well as new wheels. There's no word yet on the revised power, though the previous generation was good for 730 hp, enough power for a 0-62 mph trip in 4 seconds and a top speed in the 217 mph range. [eMercedesBenz]

This Mitsubishi monster supposedly makes 1130 HP, and that's not at the flywheel, but at the wheels. And we're told it's "true" power, no nitrous-oxide assistance, just a motor built up big as can be and 51 PSI of boost. With all that power sent to four wheels, this thing just wants to jump right off the chassis dyno. This begs the obvious question — what kind of acceleration should you expect? How about a 1/4-mile run of 8.56-seconds at about 170 MPH. But don't think this was all some crazy JDM tuning. Nope, this car lives in the one and only true land of excessive power — the good ol' US of A.

<![CDATA[ Hamann Kicks The E92 M3 Coupe Up A Notch... Or 35 ]]> While the majority of us would be happy with a standard M3, Hamann's apparently not as satisfied as the German tuning shop has just revealed a couple of serious tuning packages for the V8-powered E92 BMW M3 Coupe. The two blend all sorts of fun performance upgrades with enough cosmetics to make Mary Kay blush. The first tuning package increases the 4.0-liter V8's output to 435 HP and a slight boost to torque on the crank shaft. With the removal of the speed limiter, the M3 can go up to a top speed of 187 mph. The second kit called "Sportkit HM/M +35" raises output to 455 HP. This second package pushes the speedometer up to a speedgasmic 199 mph. As far as looks go, Hamann drops a black on black paint job, matching the rims to the dark-as-night skin. Gorgeous. <![CDATA[ New Baby Audi R8 Based On TT? Not Quite ]]> Rumors have been circulating that Audi may be possibly considering a "baby R8" —but this ain't it. The current Audi TT is a fine looking machine, but it pales in comparison to its big brother, the R8. They both have a somewhat similar shape, but the R8 has those nifty "sideblades" and some other vents and scoops. In light of this, body kit makers Caractere decided to make a kit that attempts to make your Audi TT look like an R8. We thought it was one of those hypothetical styling kits that nobody would actually buy, but we were wrong.

What we have here is a TT with said "R8" kit available for your bidding pleasure on eBay. For the $45,000 buy-it-now price you get a 3.2-liter V6, S-tronic automatic, and Quattro. <![CDATA[ Abt Sportsline Tunes VW R32, Hits 370 HP Note ]]> The German tuners of Abt Sportsline have had their way with the VW Golf R32 taking the well-known and already sporty hot hatch down the road of higher horsepower. Although you'd never expect it with such few changes Abt's made to the exterior shell. Although Abt gives their R32 a new side skirt, blackened chrome dual pipes and of course, 19-inch wheels and Abt decals, very little else signals the changes Abt's got going on under that blue bonnet.

And yes, the changes are a-plenty under the hood, as Abt's tuning team took the base engine from VW and spun the dial to 11 by way of a modified motor management system and the introduction of an Abt compressor kit with supercharger and air cooling system. Those changes bump the base model up 120 horses to a tire-squealing 370 HP. Those changes to the motor also boost the top speed to over 168 MPH, with a 0-to-60 time of a mere 5.0 seconds. Wheels and exhaust tips are "coming soon." For a carbon fiber body addition, the touches are nice, avoiding the usual excesses. Of course, if you want to stand out you can just chrome the entire Murcielago like 50 Cent did with his. Photos and press release below the jump.

Premier4509™ Introduces Murcielago Design Package

Paramount, Calif. - (March 24, 2008). Premier4509™ announced that it will be developing a new line of products that have been created for performance luxury cars. The Premier4509 line launches with the performance based aero enhancement package for the Lamborghini Murcielago. The kit is limited to 300 sets worldwide and will feature a numbered serial plate. The complete package includes a full front bumper with the boxed bumper support system, side pods and a rear bumper with optional adjustable rear spoiler. The total price is an MSRP at $28,000.00
The team responsible for the Premier4509 line has been developing performance products for nearly twenty years, holds two world racing records and owns more than twenty design awards.
The pieces will be manufactured with a combination of composites made of Carbon Fiber and Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) and will be hand crafted by a handpicked team of experienced technicians in Japan.
"The Murcielago is a difficult car to design with," said Hironoa Yokomaku, president of Premier4509. "The boxed bumper support system makes it tricky to elaborate on designs. This is why many other companies will only offer a front bumper skin or a lip spoiler. Our product quality is good enough to do it the right way and offer the full set up. "
The Premier4509 collection will expand this year to include more products for Lamborghini, Bentley, Aston Martin, Maserati and more. The Premier4509 line will include limited edition wheels, soft goods and executive class accessories.

<![CDATA[ HARTGE Gives BMW 1-Series The Carbon Fiber It Was Missing ]]> We can imagine that tuners have been anxious to start hawking their gear for the 2008 BMW 1-Series as the car has a lot of potential and lacks an "M" version. HARTGE, which also tunes the hatch version, has their first round of offerings available and they include the expected wheel/tire combinations, an adjustable sport suspension and all manner of carbon fiber bits for the interior (carbon fiber is the new ball bearings). The company's approach to the 1-series is more about handling and performance than it is about wild looks. They offer one exterior tweak: carbon casings for the exterior mirrors.

Your wheel choices are the HARTGE Classic 2 or the HARTGE Classic 2, with a wide range of Pirelli and Continental tires including a 9x19" 255/30ZR 19/8 x19" 225/35ZR rear/front setup. [Source: HARTGE]

<![CDATA[ Custom Painted Valve Covers Keep Meatwad Warm ]]> We stumbled across these custom hand-painted Nissan valve covers by accident, but it turns out they're the artwork of Pres, a fellow Jalopnik. Even if you're not familiar with Aqua Teen Hunger Force or this guy, you can still appreciate the originality of these creations. Hmm... maybe he could do Trogdor The Burninator on a pair of Hemi valve covers?

<![CDATA[ Mercedes AMG SL63 Debuts in Geneva ]]> We've been waiting for the 6.2-liter AMG V8 version of the Mercedes SL like that famous dog in Scotland who waited at the train station for his dead master to arrive. Of course AMG is no dead master, as it were. It's a cornucopia of major mechanicals, of which its latest naturally aspirated V8 is most definitely one. Now, were those boys to build a rockcrusher manual or manumatic tranny that can handle this beast without leaving bits along the autobahn, and ditch the autobox... why, we'd have more car than the average real-estate developer in Orange County could handle. Oh wait... they did. It's the new seven-speed, twin-clutch SpeedShift MCT (Multi-Clutch Transmission) box, which ships with with four drive modes. That means faster shifts to go with the pleasing throttle blips when going back down. Time for those Wire Brush (TM) brand hair plugs, Bob.

<![CDATA[ Mine's GT-R Runs 59.4sec Lap of Tsukuba, Coming To US? ]]> No, I'm not saying that I personally have a Nissan GT-R. I'm talking about Mine's, the Japanese Tuner of Gran Turismo and Best Motoring fame. Recently, they brought their R35 GT-R with all the Mine's go-fast goodies to the Tsukuba Circuit to do some testing, and they left with a best lap of 59.367 seconds. To put this in perspective, a normal R35 GT-R will run a lap of about 1:02, and a new Mitsubishi Evo X or Subaru STi will do it in about 1:06. To run a sub-one-minute lap is a benchmark for turbo-crazed JDM tuners. Of course, with a notable lap time, there are always factors (weather, driver) that have little to do with the actual car. Either way, the Their's Your's Mine's GT-R is indeed an impressive piece of kit. They've upgraded the suspension, exhaust, brakes, intake, rear spoiler, and the computer chip. Still in development are parts to further aid the aerodynamics of the mirrors, hood, front canards, front spoiler and side outlets. And what's even better— we hear they're bringing it to the US.

All we've heard is that Mine's is bringing their white test car here next month. We're not exactly sure why this mega-Godzilla is coming to our shores, but we thought we'd give you a warning now, just in case things go terribly wrong and the monster destroys a city or eats a helicopter or something. <![CDATA[ Corvette Z03 Concept By Ugur Sahin Design Is 03 Less Than Z06, Yet Somehow More ]]> To some people, the relatively affordable and fast Corvette Z06 is automotive perfection. Those some people might not like the Ugur Sahin Design Corvette Z03, which takes the Z06 and replaces the original look with a carbon fiber body that adds a touch of stallion to the America sports car. In order to make this truly a super car, the design seems to indicate that it'll be almost impossible to see out of the back of the car. Though the car is going to maintain the Z06 setup, it has the dimensions of a mid-engined sports car. And like most modern design projects, the company actually thinks they're going to build 100 of these.

There will be three engine packages available for the Z03, with horsepower ranging from 500 to 750 hp. Prices will be announced in March and the first vehicles will apparently be available to costumers late in 2008. Call us a touch skeptical. [Supercars.net]

<![CDATA[ Audi A9 Caught Undisguised? Um, No. ]]> Contrary to what the badge may say on the back of this car that used to be an Audi, this is actually just the aftermath of what someone decided to do with their A6. While admittedly the craftsmanship is far from the worst custom bodywork we've ever seen, the styling is, well.. very distinctive to say the least. We're gonna go out on a limb and predict that this car is not at all hinting at some new design direction for Audi. It's been a long time since we've heard anything about an A9. The old rumors ranged from a mid-engine supercar based on the Le Mans concept (which turned out to be called the R8) to a Maybach-fighting über-sedan. Regardless, we're sure that this thing ain't no A9.
