"@sos10: Ha ha...ok lets be clear (deep breath taken)...
First, since none of us were there, driving or being hit by the Peugeot, then WE all are guessing a bit aren't WE?
Second, If you hit something at 70mph bigger than a breadbox, even if you don't know what it is and no matter what road/freeway/alley/sidewalk you are on, and keep driving without checking for possible damage at the first safe place to do it then you are stupid...easy enough
If it was me and I had hit a dog or whatever, I would pull over (safely guys, safely...check your mirrors) and check my car and the dog...that's just me...If the dog was dead or injured I would try an remove it from the roadway (if safe guys, look both ways)."
"@vr6john: yeah yeah...I said Freeway in my original post...but it doesn't take a genius to pull over safely on a freeway either...if you can't do that, you shouldn't be driving..."
"everybody screaming about not stopping on the freeway...read the linked article...
"doing 70mph on a side road in Cozze, southern Italy."
Is "side road" Italian for Freeway?"
"@FightingChance: got a job, not a hippie and maybe(actually depends who is in the other car).
If I hit an animal on the freeway I would stop 1.) to see the damage to my car (cause hitting anything weighing 30lbs hitting your car at 70mph is going to do some damage...duh)and 2.) make sure the animal is out of it's misery (not sure what I would do to put it out of it's misery as I don't have a gun rack) or at least move it out of the roadway...
It's called compassion, you should try it sometime."
"@sos10: after seeing both your responses to why people think the driver should have stopped and you asking why...my guess you must be related to the driver...same cruel heartless bastard DNA"
"@layabout: some bitter republicans here, still stuck with the fear that their party doles out like scoops of ice cream...their short term memories(is 8 years short or long term memory?) must be short circuiting...unless they think the last 8 years were stellar..."
