Lexus HS250h: New Hybrid-Only Lexus Sedan

Back in August we told you Lexus plans to unveil a new hybrid-only model at the Detroit Auto Show in January at the same time as the reveal of the new third-generation 2010 Toyota Prius. Now, a newly published rendering from Japanese buff book Mag-X may give us some clues of what to expect from a car they claim will be badged as the Lexus HS250h. More »

TLC ICON Lexus LX570 Shows Off Tubby Truck Tweaks For SEMA

Just because TLC is bringing a slew of built-to-the-hilt ICON FJ Cruisers to SEMA doesn't mean they've forgotten about the crucial bugeye sunglass-wearing urban white trash market, and so we present their ICON Lexus LX570. The direct descendant of the FJ40, the Lexus doesn't much do what its tougher forefather did — likewise TLC's modifications are primarily for the street, with monster two-piece 24-inch MOZ wheels, black chrome, extra-tinted windows, TRD six-piston calipers on cross-drilled rotors and emulsion-laser-etched carbon fiber printed trim. Yes, printed carbon fiber. Heck, we'll just let you watch the video for the rest.

Brochure Scans Reveal 2010 Lexus RX350 And RX450h Ahead Of Schedule

An enterprising enthusiast grabbed these scans of a Japanese-market brochure for the new Lexus RX350 and RX450h models, providing the first real look at the upcoming crossovers. What strikes us immediately is the Subaru Tribeca resemblance from the rear three-quarter view, though that could just as easily be called the crossover stance. Lexus has also added more of a waterfall effect to the grille a-la Lincoln MKS. The interior appears to be significantly upgraded, with blended angles and forms that look almost like a pen-stroke, along with a unique shifter sticking straight out from the dash. More in the gallery below.

Lexus Tuner Sextet Heading To SEMA

Lexus is bringing a fleet of vehicles to the SEMA show next week, including an IS 350 as close to an F as possible without being a Lexus IS F. Just in case you prefer the IS F, the company handed four of them over to various tuners and magazines, including one to our friends at 0-60 mag, to do up for the Vegas extravaganza. In addition to the quintet of IS models, they're also bringing an ICON-tuned Lexus LX 570 SUV for that plastic surgeon with Botox money burning a hole in his or her pocket. More details in the really enthusiastic press blurbs from Lexus below the jump.

Advances In LeMons Penalty Cruelty: The Lexus LS400 Starter Removal Challenge!

Some of the most evil best 24 Hours Of LeMons punishments are those suggested by the teams themselves, and the Lexus Starter Challenge will no doubt live on in LeMons Texas legend. Lexus LF-Xh Concept Hits Paris Show Floor In Matte Black

The last time we saw the Lexus LF-Xh concept was back at the 2007 Tokyo Auto Show. That was a year ago. Now it's the Paris Auto Show and, it's... um... been painted matte black. Staggering progress. Though it's a bit hard to analyze it with that matte black paint, this looks to be virtually unchanged from the old version. Allegedly it's been designed as a preview of the eventual Lexus RX replacement, and as you may have guessed from the 'h' in the name, it's a hybrid. We're not huge fans of crossovers, but we've got to admit that this looks pretty slick. Chances are we'll be let down by whatever the design has been watered down to by the time it's reached production. Maybe manufacturers should start making matte black a factory paint option.

PCH, V8 Imports You Should Totally Run At LeMons Edition: Porsche 928 or Lexus LS400?

Not very shockingly, the Mercedes-Benz 450SEL beat up on the Pontiac Bonneville in our 6.9 Liters Of Misery Choose Your Eternity poll on Friday, no doubt because voters were counting camshafts or dollars in the original purchase price or something. Today we're going to have the traditional post-24 Hours Of LeMons PCH, only instead of letting you choose between the cars that finished #1 and #2 (in this case, a Supra and a Jetta) we're going to choose between two cars we really, really want to see someone bring to a LeMons race. They were expensive when new, featured sophisticated DOHC V8s and rear-wheel-drive, and came equipped with dizzyingly complicated electronics and plush luxury gear… yet it's possible to pick either one up for a LeMons-friendly price today!

The 2009 Lexus IS250 Gets Updated, Apparently

According to World Car Fans, there's something new about the 2009 Lexus IS250. We're having a tough time determining exactly what changes were made from the previous generation — it looks like there's been a minor change to the front splitter, those look like new wheels and the side mirrors appear to be a touch more stretched out from their base than the current model. Actually, we're told it's all these things — plus some new interior colors and revised stability software. Up next, watch as we wait in breathless anticipation for the press release "Lexus releases Toaster 2.0, the kitchen appliance with leather upholstery and bitchin' focus group upgrades."

Detroit Auto Show Continues To Dominate, Snags New Toyota Prius And Lexus Hybrid Debuts

The Detroit News is reporting group vice president and general manager for Toyota of the Americas, Bob Carter, has confirmed the 2010 Toyota Prius will be debuting at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show and will be joined by a uniquely styled and appointed version for Lexus. The Prius was set to move upmarket relative to its former iterations, but with a Lexus version now on the way, Toyota's own marketplace may be getting crowded. But the bigger story is how this news makes things far more interesting for January's Detroit Auto Show.

Toyota Reports 39% Drop In First Quarter Profit

Raw material cost increases and sliding US sales dented Toyota earnings, as the Japanese automaker saw profits fall 39% in the fiscal first quarter compared to the same period a year earlier. The report also cites an analyst at Credit Suisse in Tokyo who says Toyota's numbers are actually far worse than they appeared on the surface because of accounting tricks that were boosting the numbers. So what's really going on at the number-one super-best automaker from the land of the rising sun? More »
