The big buzz around Ford's finance offices yesterday was the prices dealerships are advertising on the not-yet-priced 2007 Shelby Cobra GT500. Here's what one FoMoCo finance employee told us yesterday:
"Everyone keeps hitting refresh on screens to see if its going to go higher or what. We just cant believe so so so many people are willing to drop this much on this car. I know people thought it was going to be big, but not this big. It's just a Mustang."
While we disagree with that last statement — wethinks maybe this doesn't bode well for chances of owning one for a reasonable price — cause if Ford wasn't going to be pricing these for $70,000, we certainly expect they will now that they've seen where demand is. This car is commanding serious bank on eBay — $90,000 and up for a chance to own one of the 500hp Carroll Shelby specialty versions of the already popular muscle car from dealerships willing to bet on pricing. A bit pricey for our blood — but maybe they'll let us take it out for a spin.
