2006 Villa D'Este Concorso D'Eleganza

It's Saturday. I'm not used to working/blogging on the weekends. But here I am, after downing a very delicious homemade breakfast sandwich that would make the King proud, and fielding e-mails from Spinelli in Italy. No he's not attending the Concorso D'Eleganza, but he forwarded me the above pic of a Russian prototype called the Russo-Balt. We said "thanks, now get back to your sex tour you workaholic."

Our buddies at Supercars.net also e-mailed us this morning. They have a ton of gorgeous photos from the event including the Zagato Ferrari 575 GTZ. It's a wonderful way to spend your Saturday lounging around the computer.

  • I'm doubly sick. Lago di Como is my home away from home. I know all the places those shots were taken. And there's a lot of really beautiful machinery. Apart from that Renault. Ew.

  • Is possible to do an attractive reskin of a modern Ferrari or any car manufactured with modern construction techniques? The Zagato 575 GTZ is horrid, it is so terrible I don't know where to begin. To be brief, compare the 575GT to what Zagato did with the DB4GT.

  • Russo-Baltique Impression Note about the Russo-Balt Impresiion on Russian website with additional photos: http://cardesign.ru/ru/news/text-781.html

  • Russians don't suck at designing beautiful cars.... who knew? Take that italdesign and pininfarina. (I'm looking at you especially Zagato, you should perform ritual sepuku on yourself to rid your family of the shame associated with that ferarri abortion)

  • Sorry, the russian car is fucking ugly. There's just too much... stuff, and it can't decide on what kind of body style to have. I actually like the Zagato Ferrari. The Russo-Balt needs a minimalist's hand before it can look good, let alone beautiful. Perhaps a bit of lowering to the ground, too.

as mojo said... lago di como is my home when I go back to italy for the summers... even though it's a very small show, the villa d'este is a classic old-timey show which keeps an air of old-school about it that doesn't exist anymore... that coupled with the nostalgia for those locations from my childhood makes me love those pics... that said, the russian car is an abomination.

  • I'm jealous now...
