A group of graduate and undergraduate Ohio State University students designed an electric-powered car that reached 314 mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah last week, breaking the speed record for a completely electric-powered car. The car, known as the Buckeye Bullet, broke its previously held record of 256.894 mph, which it hit in October 2003.
